- diagnose and repair duct leakage,
- diagnose and solve pressure imbalances caused by duct leakage, door closure, PAV’s,
- how to identify and fix common big thermal envelope problems, including leaky recessed can lights and pull down stairs,
- understand the impacts of high or low infiltration rates,
- and sell a Whole House Health and Comfort Checkup on a service call
Review quizzes are provided for each section. Recommended for all HVAC personnel.
CITR-2: Duct Pressure, Airflow and Leakage Diagnostics
This one and a half day class teaches how to perform residential air distribution diagnostics, air balancing, leakage testing, and airflow/pressure renovations.
Hands on training is provided on:
- measuring external static pressure,
- measuring coil and filter pressure drops,
- measuring air velocity into grilles and in ducts,
- using a flow hood.
You’ll learn:
- five uses to interpret static pressure
- the implications of low or high total airflow
- all the possible duct renovation solutions to low air flow or poor distribution
- the basics of duct design, with common mistakes to avoid
- the truth about common myths and misconceptions about airflow, static pressure and air balancing accuracy
Recommended for all HVAC personnel.
CITR-3: Diagnostic Sales & Marketing
This one day class teaches how to incorporate Whole House and Air Distribution Diagnostics into a replacement sales call, or a Whole House Comfort Checkup.
This workshop is designed for Comfort Consultants who need to present the results to the homeowner. Owners and sales managers should also attend.
You’ll learn:
- little known sales and education tips for using the Infiltrometer blower door, flow hood, static pressure gauge, digital manometer, anemometer, infrared thermometer, & smoke puffer
- how to use the EPA Energy Star HVAC Investor software to upsell and prove the value of buying repairs along with a replacement
- how to use diagnostic testing to get both parties together and be the last one in
- proven ways to generate slow times Checkup leads
- pricing labor intensive repairs
- how to handle common objections
CITR-4: Psychrometrics, Humidity & Mold Control for HVAC Contractors

- Moisture Transport Mechanisms Explained
- Moisture Sources, From Inside & Out
- Effects Of Outside Air Infiltration & Ventilation
- Moisture Source Inspection Procedures
- How To Measure Humidity, Short & Long Term
- Known Problems With Current High Efficiency AC Models and Controls
- How Poor Dehumidification Leads To Higher Energy Bills and Mold Grow
- Why High Efficiency AC Often Doesn’t Save What Is Promised
- How To Maximize AC Dehumidification
- How Air Balancing Can Lead To Increased Mold
- The Pros and Some Cons Of Variable Speed Blowers, and How To Avoid Them
- How To Select, Sell & Install De-humidifiers
